June 1, 2018
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Three dedicated Visionworks associates were honored for their exceptional volunteer work with Jefferson Awards for Public Service, presented by Highmark Health. Along with the prestigious award, the associates were also awarded a monetary contribution to be donated to the nonprofit of their choice.
Visionworks optician, Jason Holman, of Orlando, Florida was selected as Highmark Health's overall winner and will represent the company at the National Jefferson Awards Conference in Washington, D.C. this June for his work with the homeless, rehabilitation facilities and middle and high school aged youth. In addition to Jason Holman, Hector Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) and Dr. Michelle Cadet Honore (Philadelphia, Pa.) were also honored at last week's ceremony.
"At Visionworks, we believe that we share a responsibility to give back and strengthen the local communities we serve," said Peter Bridgman, the CEO of Visionworks. "Each of our associates embody this principle, but we're exceptionally excited to recognize these three individuals for going above and beyond in making a powerful difference in their local communities at our Town Hall meeting.”
Highmark Health is one of 28 U.S. organizations that serve as Jefferson Awards Champions, bringing to the workplace the highest honor for public service, established more than four decades ago by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and other public figures.
Highmark Health was the first organization in the country to receive certification from the Jefferson Awards Foundation as an outstanding employee volunteer organization. As a Jefferson Awards Champion, Highmark Health annually recognizes employees who reflect the awards' value that each citizen is responsible for working to improve life in their communities through economic participation, public service, volunteerism and other efforts.
