SAN ANTONIO – As spring break wraps up for schools across San Antonio, Visionworks is bringing Little League® players as their guests to H-E-B Big League Weekend at the Alamodome for a weekend of baseball activities. On March 18, a team from the Windcrest Little League will have the opportunity to experience game day from the Visionworks suite including the chance to get up close with MLB players and watch batting practice from the field.
As a continuation of Visionworks’ national partnership with Little League®, the company is working at the local level with Little Leagues in the Greater San Antonio area to provide additional resources, while supporting training programs, promoting advocacy, and networking. The outreach includes a donation of approximately 200 Let’s Go See vouchers from Visionworks to help support Little League’s Urban Initiative programming within their Southwest Region. Each voucher will provide a free comprehensive eye exam and a pair of glasses to the Windcrest Little League players.
“Our commitment to raising awareness of the importance of annual eye exams for children is of the utmost importance and being able to provide a unique experience for these kids is something the entire Visionworks team is proud of,” said Jim Eisen, president and CEO of HVHC Inc., and president of Visionworks. “We’re excited to bring our love of the game home and offer aspiring baseball players in our local community the Big League Weekend experience.”
H-E-B Big League Weekend is an annual tradition for the city of San Antonio. The two-game Major League Baseball spring training exhibition series is hosted at the iconic Alamodome. This year’s event will feature the American League Champion Cleveland Indians vs. the American League West Division Champion Texas Rangers. As an official partner of Big League Weekend, Visionworks has the unique opportunity to further the conversation about the importance of eye health for sports fans of all ages on-site during Big League Weekend Fan Fest.
"We’re excited to host players from Little League and we’re grateful to Visionworks for being our partner in making this happen,” said J.J. Gottsch, Big League Weekend Executive Director. “Knowing these kids already have a passion for the game, we can’t wait to treat them to an experience of a lifetime!”
At its 13 locations in the San Antonio area, Visionworks maintains a large selection of eyewear to promote healthy sight such as UV-treated lenses, polycarbonate impact-resistant lenses, polarized sun lenses, and flexible frames. Tickets for H-E-B Big League Weekend are available at BigLeagueWeekend.com or through any Ticketmaster location.
